My name is Alex Wrigley. I have always dreamed of playing golf on one of the world's main tours (and I'm still chasing that dream!) but coaching has always been a major part of my amateur and professional career. My fascination with golf coaching started as a 15 year old county player, travelling to The David Leadbetter Golf Academy at The Wynyard Club for lessons from Andrew Nicholson. Just 5 years later I would find myself working for Andrew at The Leadbetter Academy, further increasing my interest in golf coaching and learning so much from him along the way.
I turned professional in 2008 and enrolled in the GB&I PGA training program. After 3 enjoyable years learning about all aspects of professional golf I graduated as a PGA Certified Professional.
At the age of 22 I returned to Hartlepool Golf Club, where my golf career started at the age of 8, and started to work with my childhood golf coach, Graham Laidlaw. This move gave my playing career much more flexibility and since 2012 I have worked alongside Graham providing golf tuition at Hartlepool Golf Club for all abilities of golfers.

Throughout my professional golf career my golf game has gradually improved alongside my depth of knowledge in coaching. The knowledge I've gained is not simply from sitting down and figuring out this game, far from it. It's been gained through reading, watching and learning from other great players and coaches. Of course, there are a few things I've figured out along the way myself. But if it wasn't for the people I've been around and the experiences I have had, I wouldn't have the understanding I have today.

In 2015 I met my wife, Johanna Gustavsson, and since 2016 I've been her full-time coach. She's held a full card on the Ladies European Tour since 2016 which has given me access to some of the best players in the women's game. It's been a great learning curve for me to see how they operate and what makes them so good.
I now spend my time between Sweden and the North East of England, teaching in both locations. My playing ambitions are still strong, I am striving to become the best golfer I can be and make it onto a main tour. However, I also want to become the best coach I can be and help people achieve their playing aspirations, whether it's breaking 100 or making a living out of this great game.
